A few quick thoughts on SE…
-Ticks are tenaciously evil little fuckers that must be wiped off the face of the planet. Join me in the struggle against our arachnid foes on Klandathu! The only good bug is a dead bug!
-The chill area was Chilluminati’s best yet.
-Visuals were Chilluminati’s best yet.
-Music was Chilluminat’s best yet.
-Vibe was Chilluminati’s best yet (we can thank EVERYONE for this).
-Bourbon makes me silly.
-Toki’s bike is fun to ride.
-Golf carts are fun-er to ride, and make you look important.
-Girls are pretty.
Especially awesome sets from people I’d never heard play before :
-Hidro-Ponik (twisted, swirly, dark melodic)
-Kourosh Dini (on keys) vs. Convolution Integral (on guitar, beats & effects, incl. vox)
-KiloWatts (idm/new skool breaks fusion)
-Onnomon (jumpy, jumpy, bouncy, bouncy)
-LOUD (high-pressure shower of morning power)
Great seeing everyone out as usual!

Yes, definately the best Chilluminati party I’ve been to yet. BSM, Shai, and Spook (although everyone was great) all had great sets and I think I had more fun than I’ve ever had in my life dancing to them. Yay! Thank you everyone!

I have never had a chilluminati experience like SEOA was. I think it was this weekend that I finally understood what Chilluminati was about, and I got to know a lot of people a lot better than I did before. When I got there it was 3:15pm on Friday afternoon. The friends that I was camping with, and had all the gear, did not show up until 1:00am Sunday morning approximately, so I just looked for things to do besides just walking around and reading, and the parking area seemed to be constantly in need of someone to sit and park cars. Parking cars was awesome for a number of reasons:
1) People kept switching around as to who I was working with, so I got to meet and talk with a lot of awesome people.
2) Paul, Dan and I talked for a LONG time, and that was very, very cool. I’d always wanted to get to know these guys better.
3) I got to wear a crew badge and feel important ![]()
4) I got to pass out a bunch of my demos
SEOA was the best damn party I’ve ever been to and I think there’s something about that campground that just makes for awesome parties. I can’t thank chilluminati enough for everything they did to put this difinitive experience together. Thank you to Shai for bringing out some of the coolest artists I’ve heard play in a long, long time. Before this party, psy was a genre I enjoyed but passively next to melodic progressive (the kind of trance I spin) now I can safely say I love them both equally. The testament to that being that I can barely walk today because of my cumulative dance time.
Well, I’ll look forward with baited breath to the next one and leave you with a few point form observations:
- As Paul said, ticks are really, really, mean.
- NCN north has some of the largest insects I’ve seen in North America with my own eyes.
- Psymbolic can do visuals that are rediculously amazing.
- The stages were the perfect distance from one another.
- The chill stage was the perfect relaxation space and I really loved the music I heard there.
- Children bring an awesome vibe with them.
- Fire spinners never get old, it’s always cool. It’s a blessing to have them.
- People at psy parties are soooooooo nice. I wish everyone in the world had personalities like these people did.
- Ben (Psilosyben) is as cool in person as my friends said he was and so is his brother.
- Garden gnomes and CDJ 1000’s go together like PB & J.
and finally…
- Igor has cool T-shirts.
Merde. ;D
Thanks again, all.

I had an awesome time this weekend. I’m not that great with expressing my true thoughts, but SEOA was the absolute best party I have ever been to. In every way. Thank you’s go out to everyone. Can’t wait for the next one.

I had a ton of fun at this one.
Thanks to all of you who came out and made it possible. The vibe was great.
Thanks especially to Jeff, Deb, Scott, Jullee, Troy, Mike, Paul, Derby, Igor, Shai, and the chilluminati posse for putting in so much effort to make SEOA a grand, beautiful experience. ;D
much love!
this is what i remember now through the swirling fog of memory and time…
Don’s afternoon dub set was kickass ;D ;D ;D
Airyck’s morning set was perfect. Good energy and tasty melodies
Witchdokta is fun and a great showman. He gets the crowd pumped up :)
…too bad they cut the subs during his set (and other late-nighters). I understand the need to not offend the neighbors, but cutting the subs out altogether is like taking the body away from your lover. You’re stuck with a head, and it may be a pretty head, but it’s still only a head. You need a body too!
Spook’s visuals were nicely psychadelic. I missed his dj set though and that’s a shame, from what I hear…
Sameer, Phil, Adam, and Agnotti’s campsite above the mainstage (complete with keg) was the bomb ;D It was great partying with you guys.
Moody’s sound system on mainstage is stellar ;D
Toki’s breaks and Paul’s progressive sets were a great intro into Saturday night trance.
Alberto’s set was fun. Even got some ladies dancing on stage!
Androcell’s set was inspirational. Super laid-back tempos that didn’t make me want to dance so much as chill(um) relax
Killowatts had a groovy IDM sound with thick basslines. A definite treat.
BSM’s daytime set was pretty cool. I enjoyed listening while recouping at my campsite…
I love having chillout on mainstage during the day…
Deco for both stages was ideal. The chillstage looked really beautiful at night. The mainstage looked the best on Friday night before the tapestries and poles got fucked up. The spandex over the dancefloor kicked ass.
The campground was beautiful and staff were superb.
Ticks, like mosquitos and flies, should be smited with glee
Vending was cool for the most part, but food choices were pretty poor. Definitely not enough vegan/veg alternatives!
People were pretty clean and respectful for the most part. No major incidents, thankfully ![]()
Recycling would be nice, but the campground doesn’t do it.
It’s crazy that a three night gathering like that can go by so quick…
Two thumbs way up. Good job Chilluminati.

I hate redundant redundancy but I have to echo everyone “BEST PARTY EVER”. Sunday night was my peak night.
Wow. Best Memorial Day weekend I have ever experienced (though I have been to two Mind States that weekend and that was also an amazing way to spend a weekend). This was my favorite party ever both as an attendee and organizer. Everyone was so helpful and beautiful. I never felt stressed as an organizer and everything self-assembled so neatly and powerfully. People just did things almost telepathically anticipating that it needed to be done.
I got to talk to more people than at any Chilluminati party I have ever been to. The quiet spaces in the campground made it easy to strike up conversations. Underfoot made me some beautiful Chilluminati cards to share my contact info, but I only passed out a few. I am going to use those more.
In the embryo days of Chilluminati I used to think the music and art were the most important things. I realize now that the tribe has formed more fully, that it is relationships that is the most important thing. Maintaining our lovely friendships is the key to everything else. Everyone is part now of a tangled web.
Speaking of which, NCN Campground is now a part of the tribe.
They loved you all and desperately want us to keep coming back. They think you all are so great. They say that no event has *ever* cleaned up as completely as you all did, and they have never met so many friendly people at a single event. In case you didn’t know, the owner’s name is Marv and if you call the number on his website you can talk to him and tell him what a great job he did. The folks behind the main food concession are Pamm and Keith. Security was Eric, Dean, and Dean’s son Keith. The folks behind the bar in the warehouse were Terry and Marcie.
How many of you realized that there was a working bar selling drinks at the event all weekend? ??? It was in the warehouse behind the main food concession.
Pamm at the concession is working on getting a full vegetarian menu at the next event, but we are interested in hearing from anyone who knows a vegetarian vendor for the next events.
I loved Witchdokta. He was one of the coolest people I met at SEOA. I loved dancing to Airyck’s set. I so wished I could have spent more time stomping.
I had a vision Monday morning of the party as a serpent, coiled through the entire event, and rising toward the stars. I thought later that this was very much like the Mayan god Quetzalcoatl. It was very interesting. The serpentine energy at the party was very strong for me. I knew, just KNEW, from Friday onward that this was going to be a great party. I also think I remembered talking to John about Black River Falls and he had commented that there was a psychic energy boundary that seems to exist around the area and that the area seems to have strong local power.
Thanks to Allison and Mandy for their extreme deco help !!! . Thanks also to Linda M, Julie, Tamara, and Aeda-Star. Linda M especially was amazing during the event and I felt like she was a member of the Crew, and I was very happy to finally get to know her. One crowning achievement of this party was the creation of a really powerful outdoor chill space. We finally got the elements together of what a good chill space needs. It was so f—ing beautiful.
There were more little kids at this event than any other chilluminati party. I loved them and I want them all to come back!!!
Somebody picked up a little girl’s folding chair. If anyone has a child’s chair, she was very sad to lose it. Please contact me directly.
I was also really happy to see an increasing number of older party. A true tribe is multigenerational, and it is slowly happening.
Thanks to Tamara and DJ Freefall for spending so much time at parking.
Sorry the wind blew down so much deco on Saturday.
We are still working on the Weather Control Satellite but I think it needs a new battery.
Alan’s Namaste cards kicked butt and really touched me deeply.
Bob the Builder’s See Saw was fantastic. We need more Big Toys!!!

I had an absolutely wonderful time at SEOA. Can’t wait for the next event. I wrote up a sizeable post of thoughts and put up some pics on my website:
Cheers
- Kourosh
excerpted from kouroshdini.com:
The Sacred Earth Open Air Chilluminati event was entirely wonderful. The NCN campgrounds turned out to be a great place for what surprisingly seemed like an intimate gathering of people who just wanted to enjoy some music, outdoors, and meet other like-minded people. The moods ranged from mellow to intense – all vibrant with positivity.
Everyone was friendly and helpful – staff, volunteers, and patrons alike. I had never been to a music festival such as this, yet I, along with my wife and her sister, felt very welcome. By the time we left, we were extremely relaxed and ready for the world again.
The music was shared between two stages – the Psy stage and the Chill stage. Both ran nearly continuously starting Friday afternoon until Monday. DJs would rotate every 2 hours or so. I’ll leave the Chilluminati forums to describe the individual sets. Suffice it to say here, that we would spend nearly the entire days on the spaces in front of the stages and consistently enjoyed the music. Fire dancers, hula-hoopers, and poi spinners were present in full force. People were jumping in and out of the lake for a swim throughout.
I performed twice. The first performance was solo; the second was a first time collaboration with Josh Brill aka Convolution Integral.
Saturday’s performance at the main stage went very well. Before I began, Josh and I discussed how we would fade out and into each other’s sets. As we talked, clouds began to form, and the rain that I thought would not come until Monday turned out to be making an early arrival. Ultimately, it turned out for the better.
The rain came pouring, and I just had a blast playing in it. I was covered by a rooftop, and the wind blew just right to not get my equipment wet. The staff covered the speakers and the music played throughout the campgrounds. Once the set was over, the rain stopped. The whole thing seemed rather magical. I couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop.
My performance was well received despite my hesitations prior. The music I play is not exactly like Goa-Psy trance, but it does tend near the ambient styles. As such I was worried how the performance would go. Ultimately, everyone seemed happy about it and gave some great feedback.
Apparently, some people were making wonderful slow dance movements with and without swords under the rain. Others seemed to be doing yoga on large wire spindles during all during the set!
The speakers were just amazing. They were designed and built by one of the staff known to me only as Woody. Crisp clear sounds, excellent bass, loud, and yet they did not hurt the ears and one could talk over them as necessary. The feedback they provided to me while I performed was a great boon. I can’t understate how important it is to hear a good sound while playing to really reinforce the internal processes necessary to play well.
Sunday, I played on the chill stage alongside Josh. We’d never played together before, though we had talked about it. We had some very cool moments during the set. Hopefully, we can play some music together soon at a future show.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the sets and I felt relieved that they did. I hope to join future events like this. There’s something quite magical about a large group of people who just want to enjoy music and the outdoors together. The feeling that one gets after a day or two of relaxation away from the hectic city and work life is indescribable. I think it is the feeling of a successful vacation.
–
So why do people go to events like this? I’ve run into several people who have attended Burning Man as well as other events. I had never been to anything like this before. One person I ran into said that everyone gets something different out of it. Some people view it as an art show, some people hear a music festival, and some people have life-changing experiences. It all depends on what the individuals put into it of themselves.
The same can really be said of any venture and Sacred Earth is likely no different in this respect.
I was watching the poi spinners do their dancing. One of them was working through what looked to be a difficult move. After several tries and with help from outside observers, she was able to make it through the move and integrate it into her routine. It was quite beautiful to watch in the dark, under the black light, set to chill psy-trance.
There was something unique about the scene. Here we were, separate from general society. We weren’t doing anything that was outside of societal convention. But the reduction of complex demands that constantly inundate us in our day to day allowed the natural state of play. For whatever reason, our society associates play with children and tends to erode the ability of play in many people to the point where they have to camp out in the country to do so.
Here, these women were playing with what amounted to spheroids on tethers – one in each hand. They would spin them while they were lit. It was beautiful to watch this fascinating dance.
I asked one of them what they were doing. She described it as something originating as a mating ritual from the Maori’s in New Zealand. If so, I could see why – the movement of the person as contrasted with the lights was very attractive and sensual.
However, in another sense, it amounted to playing with rocks on tethers - playing with centrifugal force and tracing shapes in the air while observing the lights as they pass. Then it occurred to me that this was play at a fundamental level.
As a musician, I can say the most important things to practice are the most fundamental and basic. Even touching the keys without playing sounds is a practice that needs repeating. When people meditate, they often practice breathing for the same reasons. Everyone notes that when they have the fundamentals of a project in place, the rest seems to work out for itself nearly effortlessly.
And here, at play, we do the same things. When we repeat the play of tracing shapes in the air, the aspects of our lives that resonate with vision and motion are improved and rejuvenated.
When our lives are as complex as they are, we need to be able to return to basic play. Some do it through yoga or meditation. Some go through music. As our lives rapidly grow more complex, it seems we have to remind ourselves to practice the basics. Everyday, the world is getting more complex and without the ability to play we risk losing ourselves. We cannot forget to play. It is the wellspring of creativity, joy, and happiness. But, perhaps even more importantly, it helps us realize a bit more of who we are.

I couldn’t get there until dusk on Saturday so I missed some but what I caught we well worth the effort! At anything on this scale there had to be problems but they weren’t apparent and nothing that interfered with the experience. Great job folks!
The venue was so much better than expected. Good choice. In spite of the amazingly healthy insect population, some of whom apparently took offense at my being there and a few who came home with us. If there’s another event there I’d get there earlier and make good use of the lake etc.
The music…what can you say…not enough. DJ’s I’ve heard before outdid themselves. Other’s just blew me away. Too many musical moments to comment on. At both stages. My feet are still sore. many tranced times.
Festival moments…hot sweaty afternoon falling out at the campsite with the most appropriate and unexpected mix of reggae dubs floating in the air…quotes from Chomsky (yeah!!!) and Leary (oh yeah!!!)…Sunday late morning with some mellow psy sounds floating over the lake as people play in the water and birds flying and singing along the shore… nice fire…and that incredible jam in the early morning hours
And the video was incredible! Most of it well exceeded anything I’ve seen in the clubs.
everyone was friendly and cool regardless of style or ages which looked to be about 6 months to 60 years. Very cool scene.
be well until next time everyone!

so i went up to wisconsin for the chilluminati festival ’sacred earth
open air’ and, as seems to be the standard up in the midwest, i had a
fucking excellent time. from the small details (flush toilets!!!) to
the larger ones (actually scheduling djs so there is a degree of
‘flow’ all through the weekend rather than just a competition of
“who’s the biggest rockstar”) everything worked out very well.
i really have no complaints about this festival…even the rain worked
its way into the schedule pretty well, coming and going during an
excellent daytime ambient set by kourosh dini - really one of my
favorite things about the fest was that they actually stopped playing
trance during the day and gave us some different rhythmic structures
to work with courtesy of kourosh, kilowatts (wonderful sunshine
glitchy music), and variety of other chill heads (i even got to play
dub in the sun right before the rain came…)
the energy in the midwest is pretty incredible…the psy scene is
still fairly new/underground there, so folks are still falling in love
with it and you can definitely tell on the dancefloor and in
conversation - nobody bitching about the sound system (just about the
police making us turn it down), or the music being too fluffy/dark, or
somebody not playing exactly the right sub-sub-genre to line up with
their tastes. i strongly recommend to any of the jaded coast-dwellers
coming to the center to see how much people get into it…
much love to the whole chilluminati crew for creating such a wonderful
experience

wear a bit more color, or make a tie-dye “I am not a cop. Really.” t-shirt?

We caught the tail end of Kourosh Dini & the emotional soundscapes… Very magical all around.
From the synchronous droplets of rain to the hint of tears forming in peoples eyes.
Everyone seemed to absorb the moments as one unified sponge.

Was it Kurosh that had that awesome ender…the guy with the guitar where there was this penetrating vocal….this I absolutely must know, I want to end a set I’m playing on the 9th with it as a tribute. The vocal line went:
“The time for war has come to an end………….the time for war has come to an end….” and it went on. I brought lots of tears, it was gorgeous. Please, if anyone knows this please let me know.

What a weekend!!! The music and smiles were unforgettable. The location was magical, the people were ‘vibing’, the music was relentless, the decor was full-on fluoro, the visuals were deep and that orange sun was the warmest feeling I can remember.
Some highlights for me were :
Kourosh Dini (on keyboards) & Josh Brill (on electric guitar) vibrating the chillout area with each emotional note.
Sipping on Jager while BSM sent waves through the trees with his ‘Sunrise out of the forest’ set. Love those Monkey sounds.
Watching in awe as Androcell played out most of efflorescence with live percussion. Ah Bliss!
Dancing like a maniac to Witchdocta and Spook on Sat-night/Sunday-morning. Full power sets… Geomagnetic is sitting on a goldmine of killer tracks. The samples that go something like ‘Look at that sun’ and ‘Put on those goggles’… whoooo… gave me goosebumps!
Bodhi 13:20 playing tracks from his new album. Super deep psychedelic stuff… very vibrational. Was the fix of controlled-chaos that I needed.
Screaming and jumping like a nut from one end of the floor to the other while LOUD dosed out some good ol’ Israeli morning psytrance. Had some Goa deja vu on the floor that time.
Swimming in that oh so wonderful lake. Made me feel like a million bucks! There were a bunch of smiley little kids hanging around the shore too… it all added to the magic.
Reality Engine’s sets … What a mind-bending opening sequence. And that VJ eqipment was making me drool!
Onnomon’s set into the sunrise. My highlight of the main floor. I’ve never heard music like this before and that element of surprise just kicked it all into high gear. Its bouncy, its dark, its light too, melodic, twisted…. an overall gem of a set. Hope someone recorded it.
Big thanks to :
Chilluminati for believing in the midwest!
Alberto for the main stage deco (kickassss)
BSM for the Zome structures. (I’m inspired!)
NCN camground crew for keeping it all functional
Shai for putting together a kickass lineup and partying with us all the way to the end
;D
Iowa crew, what would we be without you guys’ energy!
Damon and Robyo… thank you for sharing your lineup time with me.
The fire spinners who kept it burning
Everyone who helped keep the venue clean
Everyone who danced
Everyone who smiled
Everyone I forgot to mention
I loved that I got to meet so many cool artists, DJs and organisers. Everyone there put in their own bit of energy to make this thing one big ball of light. Thank you for sharing your minds and your hearts.
I’m not recovering from this one… I feel rejuvenated!

I have to agree with everyone that said Kourosh’s set was perfect with the rain. I was dead tired at that time after a long night of dancing and a long morning of drinking (and more dancing, yay Shai!) and was on the verge of sleeping. When I heard the piano, I said, “what the fuck?” and forced myself to get up and check it out. I’m really glad I did. Thank you very much for the live beautiful music, Kourosh, and please come to future parties!

All the Djs in the gathering gave their 100% and track selection and feel was well chosen for the time on all days..Deco was
beautiful and well chosen for the venue.
Thanks to Scott, Bodhi, Hidroponik and Mist for good conversation, company and information.
Thanks to Mithun for refreshments when I needed them most

A week late but…I had a great time! I got lot’s o’ dancing in. Never did realize how much getting down and funky monkey dancing with someone means to me. It’s like I respect and trust someone a little more because they are willing to get out there and give it their all. It brings me much joy to see all different ages at the party out there and getting some steps in. Damn do I love dancing! ;D

Hey Paul and Naveen…and anyone else…it’s Brandon! If you don’t remember me I can post a pic, but I’m almost sure you do. ;D
I’m the only person to wear a “wife beater” everyday…it was too hot to wear any clothes that weekend.
Anyway wanted to say HI and THANK YOU to both of you once again for everything. You guys really helped make the experience better for me. I hope to come to the next festival there this October. I suppose you are already planning on that one, though.
Naveen, I wrote you an email almost a week ago now…let me know if you got it.

Thank you all for making this weekend so memorable, the energy created by such an amazing group of people was pure bliss. I had such a huge flow of inspiration that I couldn’t resist doing some work. Heres one of the pieces I worked on the first night. I was sitting next to two guys with the highest energy there…one was Dave (I think), and he giggled the whole time. It made my artwork really…. playful and gave it a lot of movement. Thank you to everyone for the inspiration I cant wait til we all cross paths again.

Sacred Earth was hands down had the best vibe I’ve ever experienced at an event. What an exciting and beautiful weekend.
My favorite set of the weekend was LOUD’s early Monday morning melodic madness… (hehehe say that 3 times fast)
My favorite moment was when Airyck, Ashley and I brought drums and lawn chairs to the floating dock thing on Friday night and jammed away. Arise chicken, ARISE!!!
Much love to all of you.
Now, back to the chaos of normal life (sigh).
Jeremy R (tribe):
Last weekend was Sacred Earth Open air and what a time it was. Good Music People Scenary just absolute insanity all weekend. The highlight of the weekend for me was witchdockta and Dr. Spook. Witchdokta blew that stage apart with a bad ass set layed out while bringing so much energy to the crowd and stage. He almost made it seem as tho the music was manifesting in his mind only to be shared with the world and give off love. That guy threw his heart out to the crowd with his tunes and it was an experience never to be forgoten. Then after he tore the place up Dr. Spook blew my mind apart…again. He was so interactive with the crowd and so energetic it felt like a sin to sit down or stop stomping. At one point in the morning he grabbed a speaker on the ground and set it on the table pointed towards some people standing by the bathrooms just to make them smile and feel the beat. After that he moved the speaker to the crowd to give us more sound and feel the music even more. A few moments later some people were walking along side the stage and he stopped the music and yelled to them “HEY YOU GUYS! GET OVER HERE!” it was truely one of the coolest things I have ever seen a DJ do while performing. After a while he stopped the music again to tell the crowed that he loved us all and was having more fun there than he had in a very long time and I’d say the crowd felt the exact same way not only about his set but about the entire weekend. I think most people that weekend came out of it with handfuls of new friends, memories and maybe even open their minds to new views on life or came to decisions in life that changed their thoughts and helped life become slightly more clear than when the checked into the event. I know my mind will never be the same after that weekend.
Collision (Tribe):
First of all, this blog is half a review of Sacred Earth: Open Air in Wisconsin on May 26-29th, 2006, and half a blog dedicated to why people should dance until after sunrise.
Sacred Earth rocked my world. Period. I had the best 4 days of my life and there are many great people to thank for such. Chilluminati keeps getting better and better at what they do, and they always keep drawing a stronger and more enlightened crowd. All of the artists that were brought there ended up being some of the coolest people I had ever met. It even came to the point were many of them invited me to their far away homes just because we made such great connections. I made many great friends and saw some of the most incredible sets to date. The people that came to this event seemed to be very nice and respectful to others for the most part. I strengthened many bonds with some people that have been coming to the goa parties as of late, and also met many new people that I can gaurantee will be back
As far as the artists go, I wanna thank everyone of them for being the morning stompers. It seems as though over half of the morning stompers were the artists themselves, and they seem to help set the great vibe the was present. and this is where it goes into my second part of this blog…
If people that were flown from across the country can stomp till the early morning, then Im sure more midwest people could too. I found this weekend that many people go to psy events for the social concept only and not the dancing and self expression.. im telling the people like that right now, YOUR MISSING OUT! There is so much spirituality to be found in releasing mass amounts of energy from inside to outside by moving between the vibrations of psy trance. No matter where the fun is at during the event, you can bet that you will find the most fun at the stage from the hours of 2am-8am. Dancing not only at night, but when the sun comes up and eventually takes over carries the most enlightening experiences I have ever had.
It seemed as though many people got this idea by Monday. The first 2 nights many of the morning stompers where the artists and a few of us hardcore psyheads, but by Sunday night/Monday morning many people seemed to get the point of how important those morning hours are. So the point of this blog is to tell everyone that has never danced till the early morning to try it once and you might be pleasently surprised. The most energy is always found once the sun comes up. So pace yourself kids! Dont burn your energy right away as there is many hours in a night of goa. I wanna see the most people dancing towards the end to make that much more of an impact before the party is over. And I have a feeling that this will increase more and more as the parties go on! Some people from our group werent ever even found at the dancefloor and I have to admit Im a bit dissapointed in them, because they’re all so cool and I wanna see them all dance as much as they can as if there was no tomorrow at events such as these!
I also realized that as far as Mindoutpsyde’s booking goes, we would most likely not hire someone that doesnt party along with us as well. so if your the type of person that only spins tracks and then leaves, or only spins fire/some trick to be the center of attention for a moment and then is never found at the stage again (youknowwhoyouare) you should really try hanging out with the crowd and help increase the energy force to strengthen transformation to a new level. Sorry to be so blunt but people need to carry this energy along with their talents, otherwise its pointless for us to pay them to be there.
As for everyone that feels this scene is important and valuable to today’s society, they can stomp till the early morning next time and prove themselves and they may actually find it some of the most enlightening times of their lives! Pacing and knowing when to start drinking/ect is important for saving till the morning in my opinion. That way the energy level comes much easier.
Chilluminati did one hell of a job of hiring performers that showed a lot of respect to the party and made it most of what it became. They get better in this sense as they keep throwing parties, and we’ll do our best to reflect that as well.

Well Said Chris!
I remember crying at Interfuse because I was so happy to see so many people dancing during the morning hours.
Looks like you are growing into the star I always knew you were, wow!

fuck yeah!
i definitely feel you on the socialites - my personal feeling is that a decent portion of the folks who weren’t there primarily for the music came from the burner side of the scene, where events are very DIY and based around walking around socializing at other people’s little home-away-from-home style campsites. the prima donnas kind of bug me, but i do my best to ignore them - and usually succeed if they aren’t standing in the direct center of the dancefloor playing with their toys and forcing the dancers to move away from them.
and remember, most of the people involved in putting on these events and putting out the music are doing it for the love - and you can definitely tell ![]()

You make some really great points. As I was reading the second half, I was thinking, ‘I really should have paced my drinking so I could have stayed awake’ and then you said it yourself. I don’t feel guilty for continuously passing out, because I know my body needed it, but I do regret not staying awake. I know I missed out on a lot of really great things, including watching the sun rise with some amazing people while pulsating to the fantastic beats that kept the vibe going. I told myself on Saturday that I wasn’t going to drink, because I wanted to stay awake, but I gave into the call of my vodka =/ I’ll have to work on being a stronger person. Thank you so much for posting this, because it really made me think about every dimension of the party. Social aspects are extremely important to me, but part of letting it all go is in the dancing.
As for what you said about people spinning fire and then disappearing, I hadn’t really noticed that until you said it. There were certain people that spun fire for the attention or did other things in order to be noticed and then were nowhere. That’s really sad. It makes me wonder why they’re there in the first place. In my eyes, this scene is about sharing, loving, and being unselfish. I don’t understand how someone can come to it, act like their Gods of it, and be so self-centered.
That goes along with the conversation we had by the fire that one night. You really made me think about the people I choose to be around. Thank you so much for that.
I told you last summer that I thought you were an amazing guy. I told you that people truly want to be around you and hear what you have to say. Everytime I’ve seen you in a conversation with someone, you really get them thinking. You have so much to offer and I’m very grateful that we met one another again- away from the cliques and judgments of high school.
*hugs*

I remember some of the times playing psy in Iowa in the last couple of years and people were surprised that I wanted to play past 6 am.. “so do psytrancers go past sunrise?”
Small moves Chris, small moves
Nearly all of the acts we booked for this we have met before. Getting acts we know who are in it for the same reasons as us and the attendees is very important to us.

Stompitty stomp stomp!!!
I caught 2 sunrise stompfests the best of which was Monday morning. . . DJ LOUD blew my mind with some of the best morning trance I’ve ever heard! I’m one of those fire-spinner types who loves to spin to psytrance. . . . mmmmmm psy-fire.
I did spin some flags on the dance floor a little bit, but it was in the spirit of continuing to ‘let go’ in a psy-stomp n spin fashion. I get lost in their movement and they become extensions of the truly free expression that I’m experiencing as I drive my heels into the ground. Soz if I made anyone move from where I was spinnin. . . I’m usually pretty mindful of where others are and I surely was dancing (not performing) when I brought the flags out! I constantly promote others who haven’t experienced this to let go and give it a shot. The ecstatic dance workshop at MAGE would’ve been a great addition to the weekend. .. maybe would’ve gotten a few more trancers out there too!

I didn’t know you thought like this chris, way to step up and say something. Not many people would have the courage to do that. I feel that this is should be the culmination of event as well, when everything falls back into place again and everything is right, but people just want to party and get fucked up and then by morning they have no energy left. I’m also tired of the attention being drawn to any particular person, it really pulls away from the feel of the event, by causing internal conflicts with people and their “status”. Where the focus is lost or sucked away into that individual instead of the whole. I’m all for people expressing themselves, but I don’t think that they should expect attention, or even worse demand it!

Agreed….The sunrise energy is AWESOME.
Damn, I’m with you all. I’ll never forget my first night staying up dancing alllll night. I have to give thanks to Zay and Boozer for the Mindlicker. That was the introduction. You know, comming from the club scene, 3:00 a.m. rolls around and you’re itching for more, but nothing is open…now I have the outlet. It took a few times for the psy trance to sink in and the rest is history. This is my first psy season and I tell ya, I wouldn’t have it any other way…..as far as staying up goes. There is nothing like carrying that energy through the night and it’s almost like a rebirth when the sun comes up. And oh man, especially when you have mad talent like Airyck and Loud throwing it down. Damn, I got my best dancing in at Airyck’s set and Loud’s set and ya know, it happened to be at sunrise. I like how you put it Chris, it definately is spiritual….something that can’t quite be explained, it has to be experienced. And it’s all about pace…I found it hard to see every act I wanted to see and save the energy for the a.m. full-on, but it happened and I’m glad it did. My favorite memories from SEOA are from sunrise and then when the sun starts to heat you up and your like, “damn, I need to get this shirt off, it’s freakin’ hot!” Oh man, it get’s me excited just thinking about the a.m. energy. Ironically enough, I’m up now, it’s 6:20 a.m. and the thing I want more than anything is a stage, an intense sound system, and some talent behind the decks blasting the full-on. Airyck, where are you at when I need ya. Actually I just jammed to your mix tape down the highway on the way home from a club night. INTENSE!!! Damn, can’t wait for another event!!! I’ll be stompin’ with you all soon!!!
Peace-

Crystal (Tribe):
Wow. I don’t think I can say much more than that right now. I haven’t felt so free and happy as I did in Wisconsin in so long. Actually, I can’t remember ever feeling quite that way before. The person I was there is who I am and who I always want to be. If ever my anger starts to boil or my fears start to creap up again, I’ll close my eyes and think about how I woke up in front of the main stage and watched as a bunch of people danced to the same rhythm in their own, unique way. Every one of them was listening to the same thing, but had their own take. It was so beautiful to watch and it was inspiring to be a part of. Just sitting here thinking about it fills me with so much love.
On an even more personal note, I think the event cured me in many ways. There was a spider on my pillow as we were packing up, I just picked him up and moved him to the ground. I’ve never done that before. I’ve always been horribly afraid of spiders and insects. To the point where I’ve been afraid to sit on the ground or climb a tree. I think it’s gone. It’s the most freeing experience to have so many walls come down. To know that I can do what I truly want to do without irrational fears. I’ve grown, I’ve evolved, and I truly love myself right now. Love of yourself is so important and I feel like I was there; I just need to keep a hold of it.
I also think I had a moment (for the first time) where my mind was blank. I’ve never done that before. The problem is, I was drinking at the time and I think the blank mind mixed with the alcohol is what made me pass out in front of the main stage on Sunday night… oops =P
There were only a couple of things that kept me from really freeing myself. One of them, I dealt with rather well, the other was a guy who kept following me around on Friday night. He seemed like a sweet guy when I met him by the stage, so I talked to him for a while. I guess some people don’t understand that while I love people, I also like some space. Whenever I left the stage to get some peace of mind, he followed me. He did it numerous times and it really got to me. My old paranoias came out. It’s hard for me to trust men sometimes and guys like that don’t help. So, anyone who thinks this could possibly apply to them, please think for a minute before following a girl who’s walking alone. You may think you’re protecting her, but she may think you’r stalking her. I like being followed by people I love, but someone I just met makes me feel afraid.
Regardless of these little things, I still had the time of my life. Even when I was being challenged and questioned on Saturday night about my love of mainstream nudity, I still felt loved. Being questioned is a must- otherwise, how will we learn? To those who questioned me- thank you. I love good discussions like that and there were some very good points brought up. I do realize that Playboy is horribly fake, but it tries to honor women, rather than degrade them. In some aspects, it fails. I’d just love to have a picture of me completely free and beautiful. At the same time, it would be nice if it were also natural. My body needs no plastic.
Talk about your tangents! Point is, I love you all. Regardless of our disagreements, we were all there to love, be loved, and share something special.
As I washed the smell and the remains of the woods off my body and hair, I knew it would never leave my heart or my mind.

I was pulled on stage by a couple of sexy chicas. We had a really great time! lol.
I wasn’t so much worried about the boy. I could tell he was just the lonely type who didn’t know how to communicate. It just added to my highly developed paranoia about what men’s intentions are. I’m not worried about it and I tried to keep my fear from affecting my fun. I think I did a pretty good job of letting it go.
lol. The boy definitely wanted a friend to hang out with. It’s hard to let someone like that know that it’s cool if they want to be friends, but you really don’t want them holding your hand and following you around everywhere. I’m sure he’ll learn someday.

psy!
now you fully understand exactly what all of us feel at psy parties. its hard to revive this feeling at the one night psy-raves that weve been throwing in Iowa, but now that you have the full taste of the spiritual outdoor gathering, you are able to bring those magical feelings to the surface at even the shortest exposure to psy… including listening to it in a car! Glad you eyes are open, glad you are becoming an even better person, and i hope you continue to help us Psyowans spread the music we crave
nothing against EDM, but i just like to give every uber kid i know the opportunity to experience what you and I have experienced at these events! nice seein u and the rest of the ladies, u guys made it an awesome weekend!

good times, definitely. the music was very inspiring and the location was perfect. many, many thanks to everybody in the chilluminati family and extended families that represented their states.
i met people from arizona, illinois, iowa, north carolina, wisconsin, minnesota, NYC, and pennsylvania. wow! talk about connection, it felt just like being at a big family reunion with relatives that you haven’t met yet. this is why i love the underground, no bullshit, just cool peeps that want the same enlightening experience on their weekends. true hardcore heads were found on the dancefloor during the whole weekend as well. many thanks to those who saw me play and danced before saturday’s sunrise.
words are failing me right now because i’m jet lagged and just pulled off an 8 hour shift at work with minimal sleep. i have plenty of pic’s but no place to post them. if i find a spot, i’ll post the link.
We are all one, big, giant family. We put the fun in disfunctional.

Beautiful times all around. Big Thanks to the Chilluminati Family! It was so nice to finally connect with so many of you. Bang up job, all around.
It was all amazing. The location was especially sweet, as the land welcomed us in and soon became acclimated to our wandering and stomping feet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen birds sing and dance along with the music in quite that way before. Intense. Sacred Earth, indeed.
It was awesome to see the families from across the country - coast-to-coast… Thanks to all the artists and friends old and new for helping to make this a truly memorable weekend.

much thanks to the Chilluminati for offering their hard work for our amazement. I feel that some beautiful, strong, bonds have been made to the friendly souls in the midwest (and elsewhere).
Hats off to the Iowa contingent who populated the dance floor most of time.
the seekers have spoken, let the vibe be available to other seekers, party your asses off, don’t let the buggers get you down, respect nature, learn the delicate art of main PA volume diplomacy (i.e. learn how to creep those main gains up, slowly, let the neighbors get to sleep before pumping it, heh heh), be open, be aware, don’t preach too hard, get a job, fuck off.

This is the first of two weekend-long camping festivals the Chilluminati will be creating in 2006. Both of our weekend festivals will be in western Wisconsin, close to the heart of the psychedelic tribes of that state and those of Iowa, Minnesota, Ontario, and Illinois.
The Native Americans of western Wisconsin built huge sacred earthworks that we now know as effigy mounds. These immense earthen symbols, carved into the earth, were symbols of the Divine. Just as they built their mounds, we create these parties as Cosmic Condensates; our Music, Dance, Light, and Love form a sacred structure in Space and Time, a microcosmic celebration of the Infinite.
Come join with us this year by helping us to invoke the Five Elements:
- Earth - our beautiful new party location near Black River Falls is known and loved by many
- Air - The Music, both Psychedelic Trance and Chill/Downtempo/Ambient, is the air we breathe
- Fire - Deco in three Dimensions: Art, Light, Projection. As well as Fire and Kinetic performances.
- Water - Healers, the psychedelic people, the ambience, community, the beautiful something that you can’t put your finger on…
- Spirit - the Unseen, the Energy Field, Imaginal Realm Manifest
WE PROVIDE: 2 stages of sound and light, 4 days of camping in a beautiful natural environment (rain or shine), running water, bathrooms and hot showers, full vending (including alcohol for those 21+).
YOU PROVIDE : a tent, enough food and beverages for the weekend (or some cash - food and beverages will be available for sale), NO GLASS, NO DRUGS, NO PETS, NO FIREWOOD (firewood can be purchased on-site).
Please respect the venue by keeping the grounds free of litter. This is a LEAVE NO TRACE EVENT
18+ unless accompanied by parent (MUST BRING ID)
GATE ADMISSION $50
Children 10 and younger are FREE.
Ticket prices cover performances, tent camping and parking for 4 DAYS and 3 NIGHTS, and campground facilities. Trailer camping is available on a limited, first-come first-serve basis. Electric/water/sewer hookups are extra for trailers. Inquire for details.

If you want to volunteer, tell a Chilluminati organizer at the front gate when you arrive. Chilluminati will be wearing the Chilluminati logo.
- Please remember that you must purchase tickets even if you think you may be reimbursed by volunteering. We would reimburse you AFTER you had done your volunteer time. . . and we are NOT GUARANTEEING we can use you as a volunteer.
- Please note, very important: WE CANNOT GUARANTEE you will get to be a volunteer. We only have budget for a small number of volunteers. You should not budget for this event counting on being comped at the end. This is NOT a guaranteed free admission to the event.
With the above 2 points made, here is how volunteering will work:
- To maximize your chances of being a comped volunteer, our preference will be for people who show up by 10 a.m. on Friday. Some of our biggest challenges will be on Friday so we will make our strongest commitments to people who are available first thing Friday.
- We have strong interest in volunteers with emergency medical training. Please contact us directly if you have that under your belt.
- If you cannot arrive that early on Friday but still want to volunteer, just show up when you can and ask at the front gate whether there are still volunteer positions available. We will let you know.
- Volunteers can only be confirmed as volunteers at the event when you show up, not via email or phone before the event.
- To be eligible for compensation you must agree to work at least 8 hours at Sacred Earth. You need to be flexible and agreeable to when you work that time.
- We would rather have volunteers who commit to working TWO 8-hour shifts rather than just one shift.
- Once you complete your one or two 8-hour shifts, and you are signed off by the Chilluminati event staff that you worked, you will be eligible for reimbursement of your attendance fee and other perks. If you work TWO 8-hour shifts, we will reimburse you your attendance fee and give you free admission to a future Chilluminati event of your choice, and a T-shirt.
- Compensation will be made at the end of the event on Monday. If we run out of T-shirts we will mail you one, so leave your mailing address with us. If you have to leave before the event, we need to get your mailing address and will mail you your stuff.
- There will be 2 Chilluminati staff supervisors at all times. You will be working with them providing directions and scheduling.
- Responsibilities will mostly be assistance at gate and working internal security. Internal security means mostly watching for attendees’ safety and well-being, answering questions, running errands for organizers who are otherwise bogged down, and issues that might cause problems for the party.
- If you want to volunteer, come with water bottles, comfortable clothing, flashlights, comfortable shoes, hat, and rain gear so you can handle the weather that staff will be working; also so you can work at night.
- If you have a Motorola Talkabout radio please bring it!!
Our model for security is Burning Man’s Black Rock Rangers. We intend to follow a unintrusive, low-key peaceful approach to event security. We need people with good diplomatic skills, basically happy people committed to having fun but alert and mature.
Vending is $50 plus admission. We encourage vending of all kinds, but all vending proposals are subject to Chilluminati Crew approval. Please email us with your proposal: crew (AT) chilluminati (DOT) org.
