The Chilluminati present
Sacred Earth Open Air 2008
May 30, 31, June 1
near Black River Falls, Wisconsin

An open air camping festival brought to life with consciousness, harmony, mind-expanding music and visuals

Three days and two nights of psychedelic sound, visuals, art, fire dancing

// Lineup and Artists:

MUBALI - LIVE AND DJ SETS!
(Trishula Records - San Francisco, CA)

Mubali is the trance project of Greg Farley. He has been producing and releasing psychedelic trance since 2003 and has several releases on various labels including Mistress of Evil, Trishula, Parvati, Insomnia, and Psycircle Records. His style varies from being slightly funky to slightly mental, but his hard hitting sets have reached some of the far corners of the globe. His second full length album titled Shenanigans, will be released this fall on Trishula Records. Currently based in San Francisco, he also has spent some time in the midwest with the superduo Primordial Ooze. Get ready to blast off with Greg's interpretation of hard psychedelic madness with a little twist of funk.

DRAGON - LIVE AND DJ SETS!
(Dharma Harmony Records / TOUCH Samadhi – Jackson, MS)
www.glowing-dragon.com / www.dharmaharmony.com / www.touchsamadhi.com

Dragon is David Scruggs, co-founder of Dharma Harmony Records, established in 2007 with fellow trance pal DJ Qog. With over ten years of trance DJ'ing experience and five years in the studio producing, Dragon has gained the reputation for powerful trance sets that give a strong dose of organic and synthetic fusion. Performing his first live set at the AUM Festival in 2007, David has been working relentlessly on new material for his first album, set for release this summer on Dharma Harmony. He has a particular style of trance that embrace dark basslines and edgy leads which tear through the mind, exposing the primal core inside. Dragon has performed Coast to Coast alongside artists such as Electrypnose, Artifakt, Deviant Species, Naked Tourist, Scorb, and Pondscum just to name a few. When it comes to full-power psytrance, Dragon will leave you scorched!

DJ Mist
(Acidance Records - Arlington, TX)

Mist is an established veteran of the Texas psy trance scene. After playing in bands his entire life, he moved on to DJing and the production of electronic music in 1997. It was during this time that he co-founded the seminal Texas psy trance production company, Mistical Productions (1997-2007). Over the years that followed, his flawlessly mixed high energy sets left dancefloors across North America quaking. After a brief stint as an Inpsyde Media label DJ, he joined forces with Acidance Records. For them he compiled the two very successful releases, Dirty South and A Violent Reaction. His original electronic productions are currently being constructed under the name "justincaseboy".

ALIGNING MINDS - LIVE
(88 / Native State Records / Aleph Zero – DC)

The musical palette of Aligning Minds includes jazz, classical, techno, breakbeat, drum and bass, industrial and more. For simplicity's sake, we'll refer to their collective sound as "intelligent dance music," or IDM. They are more ambient at times than IDM pioneer Aphex Twin, and more beat oriented than much hyped DJ Shadow. Unlike the other acts on 88's floor at Love, Aligning Minds are not "DJing" -- they do not spin other musicians' records. Rather, they create and then perform live electronic music by programming, synthesizing, sequencing, and the live manipulation of sounds and beats. Their music is a testament to computer nerds everywhere.

Its hard to write about electronic music and not mention blips and bleeps at some point. And granted, Aligning Minds have glitchy blips and bleeps in abundance, but they also bring to the mix various natural sounds -- guitars, pianos, chimes, tablas and human voices, to name a few. Moreover, even the non-organic technological elements of their songs have a musicality to them that transcend the usual jargon. Most of their songs start sparsely, while slowly adding and subtracting elements in a way that creates a simultaneously alienating and sensual sound. Their songs are layered and textural epic journeys, never ending quite where they start out.

If you let it, there is a certain trance-inducing quality that occurs when listening to so many elements at once.

The Great Mundane - LIVE
(Chicago, IL - Psymbolic Sounds)

Shaped by a "Do It Yourself" culture, Jeffrey Acciaioli was driven by his love of music to create the moniker The Great Mundane at first to only satisfy himself. Born and raised in Farmington Hills, Michigan he was exposed and later influenced by genres such as classical, jazz, bossa nova, hip-hop, and electronica. His broad range of favorites and training allow us to enjoy his "one of a kind" sound that is anything but mundane. The Great Mundane's twisting textures, catchy drum whips, and unique soundscapes leave us with a melodic collage that is unlike anything we've heard before. The Great Mundane was first introduced into the Chicago music scene before taking his passion and energy nation wide. Soon international ears were falling upon his unique sounds and requesting his talents. Recognized and appreciated by his untraditional sounds, The Great Mundane worked with Belladonna Records to release two limited time EP's and has released his debut album "When Falls Arrive" wit
h Psymbolic--sounds.

PRIMORDIAL OOZE - LIVE
(Chicawaukee, WI/IL - Divine Balance - Kabrathor)
The Primordial Ooze project was created by DJ's Kaiser Soze and S.O.T. Flowing sounds that seem to bubble and evolve like primitive life forms. These bundles of frequencies collaborate in a swarm like manner, creating intelligent patterns and movement. The Ooze sound creates a unique twist on the ever changing sound of psychedelic music.

The Psyowa Invasion w/ Aktif, Collision, Abrahm, and Alien Audience - 5 hour DJ set!
(Mind Outpsyde - Iowa)

Mindoutpsyde productions works to bring Psytrance and Goa Trance to Iowa and the greater Midwest through event organization and promotion. Live DJ acts, fire and interactive blacklight performances, visual art displays, and relentless presence on the dance floor throughout almost any party in the Midwest. The Psyowa Invasion is a fusion of the original Mind Outpsyde crew who intend on taking over the world, one party at a time.

// Our Vision

This is the first of two weekend-long camping festivals the Chilluminati will be creating in 2008. Both of our weekend festivals will be in western Wisconsin, close to the heart of the psychedelic tribes of that state and those of Iowa, Minnesota, Ontario, and Illinois.

The Native Americans of western Wisconsin built huge sacred earthworks that we now know as effigy mounds. These immense earthen symbols, carved into the earth, were symbols of the Divine. Just as they built their mounds, we create these parties as Cosmic Condensates; our Music, Dance, Light, and Love form a sacred structure in Space and Time, a microcosmic celebration of the Infinite.

Come join with us this year by helping us to invoke the Five Elements:

Earth - our beautiful new party location near Black River Falls is known and loved by many

Air - The Music, both Psychedelic Trance and Chill/Downtempo/Ambient, is the air we breathe

Fire - Deco in three Dimensions: Art, Light, Projection. As well as Fire and Kinetic performances.

Water - Healers, the psychedelic people, the ambience, community, the beautiful something that you can't put your finger on...

Spirit - the Unseen, the Energy Field, Imaginal Realm Manifest

// WE PROVIDE: 2 stages of sound and light, 3 days of camping in a beautiful natural environment (rain or shine), running water, bathrooms and hot showers, full vending (including alcohol for those 21+).

// YOU PROVIDE : a tent, enough food and beverages for the weekend (or some cash - food and beverages will be available for sale), NO GLASS, NO DRUGS, NO PETS, NO FIREWOOD (firewood can be purchased on-site).

Please respect the venue by keeping the grounds free of litter. This is a LEAVE NO TRACE EVENT

// VOLUNTEERING

If you want to volunteer, tell a Chilluminati organizer at the front gate when you arrive. Chilluminati will be wearing the Chilluminati logo.

- Please remember that you must purchase tickets even if you think you may be reimbursed by volunteering. We would reimburse you AFTER you had done your volunteer time. . . and we are NOT GUARANTEEING we can use you as a volunteer.

- Please note, very important: WE CANNOT GUARANTEE you will get to be a volunteer. We only have budget for a small number of volunteers. You should not budget for this event counting on being comped at the end. This is NOT a guaranteed free admission to the event.

With the above 2 points made, here is how volunteering will work:

- To maximize your chances of being a comped volunteer, our preference will be for people who show up by 10 a.m. on Friday. Some of our biggest challenges will be on Friday so we will make our strongest commitments to people who are available first thing Friday.

- We have strong interest in volunteers with emergency medical training. Please contact us directly if you have that under your belt.

- If you cannot arrive that early on Friday but still want to volunteer, just show up when you can and ask at the front gate whether there are still volunteer positions available. We will let you know.

- Volunteers can only be confirmed as volunteers at the event when you show up, not via email or phone before the event.

- To be eligible for compensation you must agree to work at least 8 hours at Sacred Earth. You need to be flexible and agreeable to when you work that time.

- We would rather have volunteers who commit to working TWO 8-hour shifts rather than just one shift.

- Once you complete your one or two 8-hour shifts, and you are signed off by the Chilluminati event staff that you worked, you will be eligible for reimbursement of your attendance fee and other perks. If you work TWO 8-hour shifts, we will reimburse you your attendance fee and give you free admission to a future Chilluminati event of your choice, and a T-shirt.

- Compensation will be made at the end of the event on Monday. If we run out of T-shirts we will mail you one, so leave your mailing address with us. If you have to leave before the event, we need to get your mailing address and will mail you your stuff.

- There will be 2 Chilluminati staff supervisors at all times. You will be working with them providing directions and scheduling.

- Responsibilities will mostly be assistance at gate and working internal security. Internal security means mostly watching for attendees' safety and well-being, answering questions, running errands for organizers who are otherwise bogged down, and issues that might cause problems for the party.

- If you want to volunteer, come with water bottles, comfortable clothing, flashlights, comfortable shoes, hat, and rain gear so you can handle the weather that staff will be working; also so you can work at night.

- If you have a Motorola Talkabout radio please bring it!!

Our model for security is Burning Man's Black Rock Rangers. We intend to follow a unobtrusive, low-key peaceful approach to event security. We need people with good diplomatic skills, basically happy people committed to having fun but alert and mature.

// VENDING

Vending is $50 plus admission. We encourage vending of all kinds, but all vending proposals are subject to Chilluminati Crew approval. Please email us with your proposal: crew (AT) chilluminati (DOT) org.

While we have tried our best to include the most important event information in this mailer, somethings do get missed. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns not addressed here.
