Famiable:

Hello People!!

It was great to revisit sound dimensions that are only possible for me at Chilluminati events Thanks for organizing
events like this in the midwest area as not all of us have the flexibility to goto far away festivals. Debbie and others in charge
of the chill room and deco did a great job at giving people visual candy for the night. The chill room seemed to attract more
people than the Psy stage due to the cold weather outside. Maybe next time it would be better to keep the main stage indoors
so that more people get involved in the music and are able to enjoy themselves..

I know Jeff will say that Psy fans are TOUGH people, but i guess people in the midwest are still catching up to your standards

For me, Shai and Christer's set was the most moving and I danced like crazy, something I have to come to be notorious for
Their songs were well chosen and were moving the crowd with energy that lacked outdoors because of the weather.

I missed the sets between Kaiser soze and Phidelity because of physical exhaustion..(I have to learn to pace myself while dancing) and anusha telling
me to goto the chill room where it was much warmer

The overall vibe of the party was gr8 and I met some really nice people that I have been seeing regularly at previous events.
Again, Thanks a lot for making such events happen

DJFreeFall:

Excellent party as always, guys.

Shout outs to the Audiognomes and Chilluminati for allowing me and my hardcore psy fan friends be the first ones in and the last ones out. What I must know, however, is that at night - while the first bonfire was dying down someone got on the decks and started their set with dueling banjos. After the requisite moment of "What the hell is this?" he or she (I could not even see them) started spinning in psy. The beat was almost like the record skipping, but if it was, it was the best skipping I'd ever heard. I was thoroughly, thoroughly blown away by that set. It was like an arrow through my brain. Again, though, all thankyou. Selfless promoters are the lifeblood of the scene and there is no scene quite as multi-dimensional, spiritual, or mature as psy trance. This is manifested in the small quirk that many psy parties are almost always multi-generational. And I don't normally see X and Y married couple in their 40's mingling with X and Y high school students who came to experience the vibe at most other parties I go to, and I DO see this as a positive. The good vibe that Chilluminati, Audiognomes, and the other companies like Psymbolic provide for us. Though it's cliche to say, there was a lot of PLUR in that room last night.

Thanks again and Shalom/Salaam/Namaste,

Matt, Rich, Christy, Liz, Beth, Jordan and myself (Matt).

Robyo:

alcohol helps keep it warm,
so do chillums,
cozy indian fires ,
and a psychadelic barn

Listening and dancing to psytrance outside is my favorite. The sound was clear and pumping (and annoying the neighbors). Video was twisted and the touches of flouro art in nature were excellent too. A bit on the cold side, but more tolerable once the fire going (yes, bonfires are beautiful, but they waste a ton of wood and throw ash everywhere. Plus, they fuk up the great lighting effects. Fires for comfort are best. INMHO, we don't need organized rituals or soundtracks to make the party happen. Unless, of course, that's what the event is about, or at least a consideration in the planning of it).

The barn was super-eclectic, hopping dancefloor and yet still mellow enough to chill or crash at...
Thanks to Deb for really making the barn deco and shrine happen

The other fire spots were great chill spots too. I definitely enjoy multiple fire spots at a big party, especially on chilly nights. The overall partyvibe was great. The music throughout was rad and the people friendly. No real travesties, except for a spotty generator, which got figured out, thankfully.

The sky was super clear and beatiful. Kalyx Center is a great space! Sunday was actually sunny and warm!

THANKS to all the work by everyone who attended (chilluminati crew & dedicated partygoers, who still made it, despite internet disinformation). Big ups to Bill, the owner who did a lot of extra work to make it all come together for us... Derby for making the promo mix.. Scott for providing thick sound.. Psymbolic for providing bent visuals.. Spunn for entertaining.. and every one who staffed or helped the event in some positive way. It was a beautiful time!

Can't wait to see pix. Did audio get recorded?

Zero Six:

Man, we all had a great time... The cold was, erm, cold, but nothing that really got in our way.

It was nice to see an event so close to home! It was literally only about 45 minutes away from us, even though mapquest had us driving for over 2 hours to go just .5 miles... Yeah, we were lost, plus it was dark.

The setup was simply amazing, and the sound was perfect.

My friend Aaron was with us and he had never been to a psy event before, and apologized to us for sleeping for 5-6 hours in the chill barn... I thought it was kind of ironic, because i think it is more of a luxury to be able to sleep at a party if you need to without having to go back out to your car or having to leave all together.

All in all, i thought it was a kick ass show, and i hope you guys decide to do things down our way more often.

Hats off to Chilluminati yet again.

varun:

The Chilluminati shine yet again!

Thank you for everyone who organised, played and spun at this event. It's a great feeling to party with people who are on the same plane.

The barn was the highlight this time around. Not because the cold forced most people inside but because we had some brilliant music playing all night long.

Robyo, your set set was awesome. I'm so jealous that youre 10X more tuned into the music of my country than I am ... I'm all for listening to a tag team set with u and damon next time around.

Damon!!! thanks man, you made my night. The Chillum at sunrise worked better than I imagined. I was bummed about ur set getting canned early too. Was just getting into the groove of things.

Shai...Missed your chai! Was great hanging out with you. I know how frustrated us Indians get without enough 'Shiva Power' Hope to catch up with you soon... and maybe someday at Goa too.

Paul.... thanks for the music and all the hardwork you put into these parties. You inspire me!

Chister... youre probably not going to see this but It was aweosme getting to know you. Your set was my highpoint. Really hope we meet again sometime.

Spunn! You guys rock as always. These parties are defined by your look and vibe! It's nice to see you mentoring the girl and guy from Iowa. They already look pro.

Derby, Kaiser Soze, Anand, Anusha, Igor, Jeff, Daniel, Bill Taylor ... thank you.

It was a first time for my friends and theyre already planning on how to get to Ihabited.
I dont think anyone who comes to these parties will ever forget the music, smiles, love and dedication.

Will see you all in 2 weeks

Did anyone else notice the stars ? Megha and myself were sitting outside for the longest time just staring at the sky. The last time I saw such a clear night, I was in the middle of Africa. And the shooting stars!!! I didnt have time to make a wish before the next one went by. Was a magical night.

Much LOVE

PLUR

Mike:

Okay, my turn to say the thanks [and in the process pet ourselves on the back!] ahem!

Thanks to all the attendees who made this event! It is the true dedication that inspires you all to find this place in the wilderness among the truly horrible directions from Mapquest and Google. Thanks for letting me harrass you at the door, as I checked you in [I was the early guy]...

I have no idea how I managed to stay up again for over 36 hours, most of them spent on my feet. I didn't even get a chance to sit down, yet I was always full of energy. Not even pumped on Red Bull this time either...

Thanks to everyone who slept in the barn during my chil set at six in the mornin' - that was the purpose : to put you to sleep. Anytime you guys have insomnia, just call me.

Big thanks to Bill for being the best host that we have ever had. The Chilluminati collectively agree. Thank you.

Thanks to the Blair's Witch for not haunting me this time. I'm sorry we didn't let you sleep all night.

See you all next time!
-mike

Darklight:

And although I cannot say that I took particular notice of the moon that night, what I /did/ see was about 10,000 Ufos, streaking and filing up the sky, in between and outside of the brilliant stars.. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. I don't think anyone else could see it, but I kept telling everyone to look anyway.. I saw them for about 15 minutes, total - but then they went away... =(

I wish I could visually express what it looked like better for everyone, but the best I can do is to say that even the full field of stars in the sky were far surpassed by the ridiculous amount and movements of whatever it was that I saw shooting across the night panel.. I saw them ALL...

Trippy Pippy, I really think that you are right.. These are NOT just parties. They seem to act as some sort of extra-dimensional etherial umbrella under which very magical, more than improbable things /always/ tend to happen,(Aka: Synchronicity). In my opinion there is something very serious and Real going on 'behind the scenes', and we will hopefully soon have front row seats for this imminent unveiling of mysterious happenings.. It's about time!

Sorry if my post was too overtly 'spiritual' or one-sided for anyone to handle. I get caught up in the moment sometimes, and try to express my excitement and understanding of how important these events really are.

Megha:

I've finally arrived... and I'm here to stay!! I'd like to thank all those people who worked VERY hard to make this event the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I've discovered something beautiful, or rather, something wonderful has discovered me.
It was like being in love...
The most amazing night of my life.. with the sky as the backdrop.
I had no idea you could feel so good, so connected and at peace-and yet still, completely in control. The music was mind blowing, everyone was so darn NICE , it could have been warmer, but I'd like to say that the whole experience was basically transcendent.
What's strange is that nothing about the night was sexual. It was sensual. It wasn't the bass, it wasn't the cold and it wasn't the excitement. It was the vibe. After we had left the event, I realized that my life would never be the same afterwards. That everything about me would change. The feeling I had while at the rave lingers on. While going through the motions of classes and course work and enduring the "outside world", I feel possessed to return to that place. One word to sum it all up : SURREAL!

P.S. :My first Rave Ever
I'll be back for More

Trippy Pippy:

Timeless; A community set in Eternity! And I am forever grateful!

You All are so beautiful!!!

Definately a mental sensual electromagnetic field. I like how Magha said it's like being in love...That's precisely what I've said as well! I feel that I am in love with all of you even though I don't really "know" you, in a way that's not really defined in "society", it's this deep level of trust that beckens me to be there and just Be. Everyone's energy is so lovely. It's something I've always felt for people, but for the first time in my life I've found people on the same Wavelength. I don't feel I'm just this Innocent feeling compassion for inconciderates anymore. I, too, am home; and I am elated that Magha's first gathering was amongst all of us and not those slimey meth-headed mongrols. This scene, I think, is what the "rave" always yearned to be, peacabley!

Coolness from trippy pippy on another list, cc'ed with permission:

KARMACLYSM: I don't know how we all found that place, but we did! I think it's kinda like one of those places you can't find unless you're meant to. Like in Harry Potter w/ that train on the platform you can't get to or see if you're a muggle. The directions were totally ridiculously wrong (mapquest sucks!), yet everyone I talked to about it said they just started driving around and just found it somehow. Now THAT'S what I call KARMA!!!

Did anyone notice the moon on the way there? It was beet red, huge, and very low in the sky. Very strange.

I want to know: Does anyone who went to Karmaclysm know a Russian guy with a name pronounced VZ (VeeZee)? I didn't give my number out to anyone, yet I got the strangest voicemail from this Russian (with no record of a Missed Call, no number, nothing!). I went outside to check the moon, like the message said, and right outside my porch was a huge rainbow-flashing ufo. My boyfriend finally got to see one he couldn't make excuses for (oh, it's a satellite....riiiiiight!). Bright as fuck!!!

Anyway, these parties, they are more than just parties. They are communities of Timelessness. Something's Happening. Time Is Slowing Down. The wave is flowing throughout. We're already There, we just have to remember.

Any ideas, insights, inspirations, "Is-ness"'s, or information? Let it flow~~~~

(But, by god, who WAS that Russian?? I don't know!)

I loved the set outside w/ the Star Trek dialougue!! I don't know who it was, but it was the fuckin JAM!!! What's really strange about that is that I just recently started watching all the Star Trek movies in a row (I'm at VI now.) I think I'm gonna bring Spock Ears w/ me to Inhabited. That'd be a trip! It would be...Logical.

That was just totally intense, though, Spock talkin about time slowing down and shit; fuckin BRILLIANT!!! Anybody know who that was?? Oh, and the angel-wing dance in the barn was AMAZING!!! It ALL was soooo beautiful!!! Inhabited: I'm There!!!

Bill Taylor (the Kalyx Center):

hey folks,

i hafta say that was one fine experience - great music, beautiful decorating, great stars [in the sky and in the groovy people], such an embracing feeling all over. that barn felt so friendly. karmaclysm was right in the groove of the kalyx center for creative experience.

especial tnx to jef and devorah for their super feats to make this happen -- long before and after the celebrants came and went. and to everyone -- you honored the land by leaving it cleaner and happier than it had been. [it's still givin' off those vibes so stongly every time i walk thru that scene.]

we now know alot that can make subsequent gatherings go smoother.

Darklight:

The Universe Specializes In Making Amazing, Meaningful Connections.

First of all, I'd like to thank every single person who attended Karmaclysm. It was the collective consciousness of everyone that made this event such a special time, and _no one_ is excluded from my praise.

While before the show started, things seemed as if they weren't going to fall into place as well as planned, suddenly everything came together in a cosmically psychedelic apex of indirected perfection, which lasted through the entire night. Both stages, indoor and out, were active and were filled with lots of great loving energy. All along the glowstick-lit trail, there were small sub-tribes of people huddled and cuddled together, speaking and expressing heartfelt feelings of bonding and union with one other.

I can also speak from first hand experience that it was a particularly spiritually expanding growth trip for many, and although these events mainly represent celebration of freedom, there is certainly a powerful undercurrent-penetration of divine meaning to be found at any given time at any given one of them.

Spirit always flows so beautifully through us when we allow these precious moments to touch our souls, and it is because of my sincere appreciation of (not only) these events, but to the people who make them what they are, that I would like to extend my personal gratitudes in the following way...

(Alphabetically, of course.. :)

Aeda Star: Crazy lady, it was such a wonderful pleasure to meet you for the first time in /this/ particular dimension of life. ;) We had such wonderful conversation and really bonded at the soul. I am sure we will be hanging out quite a bit from now on. I could hit your house with a paper airplane from here! You are a Star in more ways than one.. =)

Akuma: Chris, although we have only hung out a few times, Faerie and I have both agreed that you are a very cool and sweet person. We love your beautiful displays of flaming goodness and your humble, kind personality. We'll be seeing you around for sure!

Anand: You crazy man! You were tearin up that dance floor so bad, they had to do repairs! ;) Hey, I kept trying to get a picture of you dancing, but you were moving so fast and erratic that my camera missed like 10 shots in a row. The funny thing is that you didn't even notice that I was trying to snap some of you!

Anusha: YOU are one of the loveliest, sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet, really. I am sorry that I rarely have the words to say in person, but Kathia and I both love and appreciate your subtle yet penetratingly kind energy. Hugs & Kisses to you and Anand!

Bubbles/Ashley: We love you, girl! Had such a great time with you, even just sitting in the car! Oh and sorry I forgot to give you that print that you liked so much! I was going to make it a surprise, since you really seemed to fall in love with it. I'll definitely get it to you this weekend, or whenever I see you next =) I love your photography too, and would love to work on something with ya. *BIG HUGS*

Cringer: How in the hell did we miss each other this time?? (KatZye): Repeat! ;) Were you guys there, or did something come up? We missed you!

Dan: Crazy Glowin Pyro Slasher! Dude, I think you have ADD, but that's ok because so do I. We can save on medication if we go in on it together. ;)

Debbie: Besides your obvious skill and perspective as an artist/designer, you are also such a wonderful and strong person to know and to be around. You are intelligent, sweet, and beautiful. You and Jef make for an incredible team, and I am looking forward to the many special moments that we will share and grow from together.

Derby: My friend, we are only just really getting to know you now, but what we have already learned is that you are truly a unique individual. Putting aside the fact that you are an awesome dj, you are also a talented, multifaceted person controlling many dimensional pullstrings. I'd consider you a true genius of mischief. =P

Honeysuckle Redd: Hey fluffy! It was really nice seeing you again =) Sorry I never know what to say though ! Some day I'll figure something out. ;) *Hugs*

Ian: I am so glad I helped encourage you to reclaim your original name, because dammit - it's a good one! ;) See any Ufos lately? I have! heh It was really nice to hang with ya again, and definitely make sure you make a trip up with Joe (and Leo too) someday soon!

Iowa Abe: Sorry we didn't get to hang as much as at Dreamfields, brother! I was really happy to see you though. The whole night was just so flippy that I really never stayed in any place for long enough to set up camp. Until next time, peace & hugs!

JeffZ: As well as we have come to know you, we are still surprised by what a great person you are. Not only are you a true /Psy-Trooper/ who will stop at nothing to hit every event which is remotely possible, but you also bring SUCH a comforting presence to the entire environment and writhing psychedelic organisms therein. The funny thing is that you do this without even TRYING. It's just your personal energy signature/vibe that subconsciously leaks out in ethereal non-form, permeating and enlightening everything around you. Thanks for being you. You are our teddy bear! ;)

Joe: Dude, I can't say it enough, you live entirely too far away for comfort, yet entirely too close not to hang out more often. Whenever you decide to move, you best think about coming up north, although I know your Southies might put up a fight. ;) Anyway, you know we love ya and you are welcome in our home any time. (Just give us enough time to re-decorate the house again.. ;)

Julee: Finally, we met in person! I had always looked and asked around for you, but never had any luck finding you at previous events. So when you 'randomly' came up to our group and offered that gum, it was quite synchronistic! Thank you! That was the best gum ever.

Leo: It was great to see you again brother! And sorry I mixed your name up at first, but see - that's what happens when you don't reply to my email from 6 months ago! ;) I'm really glad you deciding to give Tribe another chance, and hope to see you again real soon.

Lix: (You're Trouble ;) Besides being so talented and beautiful in your fireworking performances, you are also as equally leveled in person. It was great working with you and seeing you again. You definitely lend such a powerfully fun and confident aura to the air of deco/organization; you deserve a great amount of respect for that. Thanks for putting so much into everything that you do, it really shows. Hugs!

Lucid Faerie: I love you, and you know all the rest.. ;) Just didn't want to leave your name out of that wonderful experience. Without you, I wouldn't be here. Without you, I would truly be nothing.

Lynda: Oh Dear God, Thank You For This Sweetest Of Angels. Lynda, we thank you again, SO MUCH, for (E)verything. We really would have been lost if it weren't for you. Besides our answered prayer, you are simply one of the kindest, cutest and sincere people we have ever met. On top of being so beautiful, you are also so talented and creative, which is an inspiration to me. Please keep up your comic book and all the other great endeavors you find yourself in. Keep me in your loop and let me know if I can help you out in any way. Much love, hugs & kisses to you from the both of us.

Professor: Jef, what can I say. You are the mastermind behind the shimmering curtain of these very special Chilluminati events. You don't receive enough credit for what you are doing, but ironically that is not what you are looking for. This is one big reason why I respect you. Thank you so much for all the great spiritual and perfectly magical experiences that you arrange for all of us. You aren't the Fixer, you are the Accomplisher. Much more (r)evolution ahead for us, my friend.

SOT : Igor, it is always great to see and hear you play, but it is even more of a good time to hang out with you. We look forward to all of our future moments and parties with you. Email me when you get the chance, and let me know when you might have a friday or saturday night free. Love ya brother! Big hugs!

Spiral: Like I have said before, you are on the top of my list for being one of the most unique people I have ever known. But this is a good thing! We appreciate you, your originality, and the fact that you are Being true at all times. You'll always have a special place in our hearts, you loony! ;) I was purposely overplaying that, btw. heh

Tobias: Dude, you are a really cool guy.. I am very glad we are getting to be good friends so quick! Thank you so much for the enjoyable ride to Karma, right along with the great soundtrack you kept going the whole time and back. It was such an awesome time, and we'll surely have many more to come... You know we'll see ya real soon! When ya want to jam out?

Troy: I can't believe I missed seeing you until the next day, but it was really nice to catch ya before we left. Like always, you guys put on one HELL of a visual cataclysm, perfectly befitting of the Karma theme. Thank you so much for the eye candy, which had us completely mesmerized despite the -54 degree temps.. ;) I'm so glad you guys wound up moving here, it wouldn't be the same show without Psymbolic.

____________________________________________

Just in case I happened to miss anyone on this list, I really apologize. You're still in my heart, just not my immediately referenceable schizo-memory. ;) To all the other people who I didn't get to hang with, or who couldn't make it,(Mr. Vix!) I missed ya and really hope to see you next time.

Hugs, Love, and as we Lucidians say : KYSS : Keep Your Spirit Soaring. It doesn't have to end when the party does.

Apologies

We apologize for the lousy Mapquest directions. We will never use Mapquest for this venue again.

Our apologies about the power failures on the PSY (main) outdoor stage. We rented the generator and discovered during operation that the clutch was loose and was opening gradually on its own. After we taped it down, the problem was resolved.

He is an avid fan of psychedelic production techniques and prefers tribal, dub, ambient and trance soundscapes. An experienced and versatile musician in his own right, he will often weave live instrumentation into his sets.

Toki is a maker of mischief. A tinkerer. One need only visit his workshop, where teetering junk piles are fashioned into anything from hypnotic mind rays to doomsday dancefloor devices...all of which he tests on us, whether we realize it or not.

GPS coordinates: Longitude -88.66190 Latitude 39.98305

Housed in a converted 1875 horse barn and farm house, the Kalyx Center provides a safe retreat space and over sixty acres of land for community events such as retreats, campouts, concerts, exhibits and family gatherings in a wooded setting adjoining Robert Allerton Park near Monticello, Illinois. It is only thirty miles and a half-hour drive from Champaign-Urbana. The Kalyx Center has a fascinating story . . .

The chill stage will be located in the barn, and the psy stage will be outdoors.

Parking is very, very limited. Attendees are urged to carpool, bicycle in from Monticello, take a taxi in, or otherwise find ways to get to Kalyx that do not involve parking at the site. Once we run out of parking, we will have to turn more automobiles away. This is why we provide and strongly recommend pre-registration at this event.

The Kalyx Center is only six miles from Monticello, which has plentiful free parking.

DRIVING TO KALYX: The center is about 45 minutes' drive SW of C-U. Take I-72 (Church St.) west about 15 miles to the Illinois 105 exit. (marked Market St.) Follow 105 into Monticello, past the stop light, to the stop sign (Marion St.) and turn right. At the next stop sign (Allerton Road), turn left. Follow Allerton Road for about 5 miles to a "T" intersection just after a bridge (1300 North Road or Country Road 1300N) and turn right (Don't turn at the Allerton Park entrance). Look for the Kalyx Center sign on the right side of the road in about a half mile.

Coming from Chicago via Interstate 57, there are TWO similar sounding exits - I-72 (the one we should take) and I-74 (don't take!). Make sure you avoid getting off on 74.

  • We are VERY prepared to keep you WARM.

We have two industrial propane heaters in the chill space/barn, for a total of 160,000 BTU. We have a HUGE bonfire that the owner Bill Taylor is building for the psy dance area that will be as warm or cool as you could possibly want just by moving around. Then, he is also talking about building a secondary bonfire between the chill stage and the psy stage. You should be able to stay AS WARM as you WANT.

  • Please bring old blankets and throw pillows to lend to the chill space to make the chill space comfy for everybody; bring anything comfortable to sit or lie down on. With everyone contributing we should be able to make a very cozy space out of it. We are asking for you lend, not give. You can take your blankets, pillows, etc. back home with you when you leave.

MORE ABOUT THE KALYX CENTER

Housed in a converted 1875 horse barn and farm house, the Kalyx Center provides a safe retreat space for community events such as retreats, campouts, concerts, exhibits and family gatherings in a wooded setting next to Allerton Park. Both the house and the barn were originally built on nearby land, and moved to the Kalyx Center. "A house was going to be demolished, so Bill [Taylor] bought it for a dollar and had it moved onto the land in 1986. The barn, likewise, was slated to be demolished, but the cost of moving it was prohibitive, so he tore it down and rebuilt it on his land in 1989. Kalyx hosted international work camps, whose volunteers helped do the work."

The Kalyx Center is run by progressive radio activist Bill Taylor. As a student at the University of Illinois, Bill was an anti-war activist who was disturbed by the level of disinformation and bad reporting about the war in Vietnam by mainstream media. After years of effort Bill established one of the nation's only and oldest independent community-owned radio stations, WEFT, at the University of Illinois at Urbana.

After establishing WEFT, Bill and his daughters moved to Honduras, and lived there for several years. Upon their return from Central America, Bill began ". . . a project to get funding to transfer outmoded technology from the U.S. to Third World countries . . . helping build radio stations in Central America. His project is called Primary Communications Project, and it's helped a dozen radio stations get built or improved." Bill says that radio is an extremely important communication medium in central America, but most stations are technically very poorly equipped. "In the country of Honduras, for example, there are a total of five radio engineers to serve 120 stations. Bill has seen radio stations with exposed wiring and tendencies to burst into flame. One Nicaraguan station he helped build was blown up a couple of weeks later, probably by contras."

One of Bill's most exciting efforts is the Illinois Shortwave Project. As Bill says, "While relatively unknown in the U.S., shortwave radio is the most universally owned communications medium in the world, with 660,000,000 receivers worldwide. Currently, U.S. shortwave is dominated by right wing kooks and propaganda. We're working to build a high power listener sponsored shortwave station near C-U which will be able to bring progressive programming to all areas of the U.S., and at the same time show the outside world that there are many people here who have a world view which differs with that of our government."
