i'll post more after i recoop... but the bottom line.... the festival rocked. simply fabulous. in all my years of bouncing around the world.... this will always be a highlight.

much love light and energy to all those who attended.

. . . LATER . . . .

so now that my eyes focus once again.. i'm gonna throw out some thoughts on the Experience that was GeoLogic.
Venue: The Shawnee cave was mindblowing. Standing beneath it I felt as though I was in the womb of the earth. I swear at times it seemed as though it was breathing... alive!!

Organizers: To the Chilluminati crew and all the folks from Asheville, Iowa, Wisconsin, Texas... THANK YOU. Your enery, dedication and spirit was inspiring and i think that the collective conciousness of all the volunteers and all those who attended was enhanced by you guys.. Hats off for pulling this off... come rain, storm or medical emergencies!! Special woohoo to J&D, D&T, igor & derby ... you have ensured chicago a permenant place on the psy-map.

Music: In a word- WOW. The line up promised fireworks but delivered explosions. Fred... as usual your set was killer. you never dissappoint. spook and Init string were highly impressive. the duo from texas took me by surprise.. great sound. to the touchsamadhi crew.. what can i say... I am glad i finally got to hear you all... each set was rocking. monkey and kri ... it was almost impossible to stop bouncing when u played.. kaizer did great to wrap it up. derb and igor... solid as always. a big boom to all the artists..

The vibe and the energy of the experience it what set it apart. I feel fortunate to have been a part of it..

I had an amazing time. That cannot begin to describe it, it was more than amazing. Still trying to assimiliate it all to write a wicked review but will start with saying that everyone I met/remet/found again/shared energy with/gave energy to/received energy from/stomped (now I know the real meaning of stomping with!) with/hugged/loved/cherised was absolutely amazing. The music was mind-blowing both nights. It was awesome how it switched up vibes (maybe just me?) each night. I want to write a better review then this but I am so appreciative that there is this in the midwest now. Thank you so much Chilluminati. Also, wonderful to have all the people from around the USA coming to show us how to do I definately am feeling the tribe vibe.

I am going on 8/96 hours of sleep total so please don’t mind it::::To our immediate chillzooian crew...thanks so much for making this event one of the most memorable psy/goa experiences on this side of the equator...wow, what a feeling! The cave was beyond....just beyond anyones expectations, especially since I couldn’t make the trip the first time..which did pinch a little.... and compliments from Fred, Spook and the rest of the Divine Balance crew were endless regarding the caliber of friends and family/community that were present, involved and working together.. and also the actual location and outcome of the party, the venue...wow ! Cork and stew is right, igor!
to j&t,d,i,j&d,and M, I want to extend an apology for my less then active promoter participation on saturday post friday activities..due to no sleep 48 hours from work catching up w/me and also having to leave early on Sunday due to the whole artist drop off dealio and on-call sunday work thing, but such are the demands of the medical world...I know that although this reasoning may merely seem like an excuse to u guys..it is true and tried!!!

To the extended family(Iowa, Wisconsin, Ashville and Tejas) and all the beautiful friends who chose this as there destination for the weekend, GEOLOGIK was a true vision of what can happen when lots of positive light force energies come together and unite in celebration of sound. It couldn’t have been done with out you. Thanks so much for making this journey a permanent historical landmark of PSY/GOA evolution in the MIDWEST!

TO all the artists who contributed...everyone’s set was amazing and the integration of all types of sounds and styles was killah!!! SO diverse yet so UNITED!!! I loved it and very cool to make connections with so many!!! Fred/Spook, Kri, Bastard, BSM, Bob, Binary, Init String, ALP, Alberto and Pituko was a pleasure to re-connect with some of u and to connect for the first time with others...as for the rest of our chillzooian line up from psy..as always, the pleasure is mine...hehehehe...btw: paul--> fred mentioned how much he was enjoying your set when we had to leave...he loves that german tech...and asked if you had a demo... bsm-->my friendly neighbor.."doof-oof" is the new slang of the week..
kri--> my new goa baba-firangi style...what solid full on oomph-in-the-gut as a memory of the past goa years...wowowowowowow!!! loved stompin to it!
Soze and Igor--> you guys as usual cannot stop me from doing the jig everytime ur up!
Derbs-->sorri missed ur set:(....but u know why:))
jetski/konflux-->...boomboom all the way home

Crazy mad props to SPUNN who spunnt us all....and our honorary light doctor..Ben!!
Also to all the volunteers who helped during this event…thanks so much for covering this promoters gluteus maximus~~!!! (Pun intenteded)

ok bleary eyed i must retire for the day but thanks to everyone and lots of love, light and beyond..

BOOM SHANTI!!!!

I missed Neuromotor. I swet my ass off. I felt asleep to early on Sunday morning etc. etc. But I had a blast Place is amazing. Sound was amazing. Whole trip was amazing Shai vs Konflux, Albert, Binary (?) and Nick@chillstage sets were amazing. Spun amazing as always. Psymbolic visuals amazing as always. Gatsby twisted as always I want more

I think 2 things were missing: more people dancing (I know it was fuckin' hot and humid) and better chillout stage setup (I read Jeff's comment so next time it will be set up closer to camp sites down there)where we could sit/lay down, relax and listen to chillout beats (I just can't take too much hardcore/mindfucking psy .

And I want to get Boston Mass. T-shirt (Igor?)
And I want your sets Shai

Great weekend

What can I add that hasn't been said already? You know it all! I thank you all! I haven't seen that many smiling faces since I first opened my eyes to this world (the doctor kept saying that I wanted to go back inside)...

I will not thank anyone individually because you all people know who you are and what you did, and how much I truly love you all. I am proud to call myself a member of the Chilluminati.

We are making history. Know it. Feel it. Every day! We make a difference. And that is the most important gift that we can give.

It seems everyone has raving reviews...Well, sorry, mine isn't all praises...

PROS...

Firstly, after driving for four hours through a thunderstorm, I was relieved to finally reach the place.

The cave was awesome! I liked the location alot it was a great place for a party. Even lower down where the IDM stage was, was great, surrounded by trees everywhere... This is what I love, is outdoor forestish parties!!

NEUROMOTOR, played a wicked live set! I heard that his timing got switched. He started playing at 1:00AM (Friday night) but then SOT came on, and Neuro only resumed the controls around 3'ish. So 3 to about 5:30-5:45 was totally Fred with flawless mixing and a night side of Neuromotor that I don't think I've seen before in most of his released music.... Overall, an incredible live set.

CONS

Inavailability of a proper Line-up (even after repeadetly asking the organizers)

Sound on the main stage. In my opinion, the bass was echoing way too loudly in the cave and the mids and treble could barely be heard unless you were standing 5 feet from the speaker. Also I noticed that the music seemed to be louder earlier on Friday night, and the volume was turned down around 12-1am. Dont know why it was turned down, but it remained at this lower volume the remaining part of the night and morning. Overall, I feel there wasn't enough wattage and the levels weren't adjusted properly.

Now I'm beginning to complain but also the parking seemed to be a trek from the party... A STEEP UPHILL TREK....

Well, that's my two cents.... I left around 10am Sat. morning....

+++

[about NEUROMOTOR]
... and what a wicked set it was!!!! Nero and Spook make a good team. sorry about time confusion, we decided to switch at the last moment. Fred wanted to take his "passengers" on a twisted ride into the early morning hour he started at 3 instead of 1 am. Dr. Spook's retna overload began at 5. DVD insync with an up-lifting set. Underfoot (Paul) went on at 6 and graced us with deep morning grooves, done right and propper!

+++

all i gots to say is thanks to all you guys for everything .
i had the time of my life !!!!
thanks fr the great time slots!

cant wait till next year!

GREAT PARTY!

i loved the location - truly magical and mystical at once.

the music that i heard was great! fred has no mercy - his sets are so different from most other dark sets. no chaos - a very ordered set which just built up on itself. rolling baselines - twisted sounds. KUDOS!

devotee your backdrops astound me.

SOT i thought your set was great! do you produce music ??

I agree about the sound though! the bass was just overpowering the other sounds. this is just in comparison to the gil party at asheville where the sound was just phenomenal. maybe it was the cave echoing the sound. dunno.

I met really nice people too! a very diverse croud - not what u would expect at a goa party - but then again who made guidelines? haha... but WHERE IS THE ENERGY PEOPLE??? at 7 am the party was empty! where were yall??? the more you dance - the more energy the party has. i felt so bad for the djs playing in the morning with just two three people jumping around. in goa parties the nights are intense but the mornings are beautiful! forget about your sleep senses! even at asheville - people seemed to scurry off in the morning! i dont understand why?

lovely party though... i need this.

thank you chilluminati and touch samadhi.

your parties are always filled with good spirit and we can see the effort yall put in everytime.

Hello All!!

This gathering was like a breath of fresh air to me..and i really needed it in my congested life..lol..the location was perfectly suited for the event and kudos to the people who chose it..

The best part I liked about the party were the people..So many smiling faces..unlike the clubs in Milwaukee where it seems like a war zone....everyone was there to have a good time and interact with people.

The music was awesome..and it reminded me of my times in Goa back in 1998 and 99..the deco was well done..

The only thing I would say that needed improvement was the information about the lineup..a lot of people didnt have the time or the energy to stay up for 36 hrs!! lol..if we had known the lineup..we could pace ourselves to see the DJs we wanted to..

In the end..I want to thank the organizers ==Chilluminati..and Psymbolic..for putting together a great show..with great people..Please let me know if you need my help in organizing events in the future..I would love to be part of your special family.

i had a great time, the cave was amazing. when i wasn't dancing or trippin' out on tha doofers and doofers to be i was just in aw of the rock formation, super trippy!

i thought the sound was pretty good. the loudest at an outdoor event in a while.

i can't wait to see more pics. the deco was very well laid out and on sat the visuals were especially rad with the whole live feedback tweakyness.

+++

I had an incredible time last weekend. Thanks to Julee and Troy for having me out.

The rest of the attendees - you guys really showed me some unexpected magical and mysterious things on the dancefloor that I had no idea could be taken to the level it was taken to... It was great to be involved in that.

It was great meeting so many awesome new people as well.

+++

This was such a great time everyone! I met so many new people! there were so many people from other parties that i was glad to see. Seeing everyone going buck wild all together like that, stomping and jumping. It was just amazing. All of the DJ's were great! I was sucked in by all the music even during the day. I fell asleep to the wonderful sound still beating in my head. Even though some of the parts were a little nerve racking this party is definately going down in the books. Halter thanks for spinning staff with me! I definately love fire. Big thanks go out to SPUNN and Liz of SPUNN ... Tyler and the rest of the Iowa fire spinners I can't wait to get our group together and make our name known. Iowa definately has been leaving a mark everywhere we've gone! You all rock!!!!!!!!!

+++

I met a lot of you at this party and it was sooooo much fun. Definately the best weekend I have had in a while. Thanks for the fluropaintings! See you next time.
Meghan =)

+++

Oh my/your/our God! Thanks everyone who was there and made this unbelivable gathenring happen. Thinking back I believe there is something magical and ancient about this rock/cave formation. I bet ancient native tribes used to live there and perform their dance-trance spiritual rituals. Pics are coming shortly...

+++

This party was one of the most amazing events I have ever attended! I cant believe how perfect everything was. The Music, the Venue, the Deco Setup, the vjing, the morning stompers, the camping arrangements and distance away were perfect! Seriously someone has got to bring Blue Spectral Monkey, Initialization String, Dr Spook, Neuromotor, Sot, Kaiser Soze, Bastard and Lost Baba, Kri, and many more of the performers to Iowa shortly.
About the cave rituals from earlier times, I gaurantee that occured. I could feel the energy from ancient past all weekend.

This one is Definitely going in the books as one of the if not the best event I have ever attended.

+++

Freakin awesome event! I had so much fun and it was nice meeting all of you there!!! I uploaded the photos that I took to this web site (www.ubersonic.org)...

Cheers,

i was at geologic and had a wonderful time. wanted to
thank the crew for a memorable time ... and for
bringing out neuromotor. i've seen him before and he's
1st class.

Geologic was a great event. well organized and amazingly clean considering the conditions. I have seen pics from the caveman expirience and another show there and the place got trashed.

+++

really good partyin with y'all last weekend, every time i go to a chilluminati event it makes me wish i hadn't moved away from the midwest

+++

hello, my name is Chris Stark and I came to Geologic from Iowa. First off, I have been to many parties in my time, as I first started in the rave scene and later found the goa scene to be a much more passionate scene with deep vibes to keep it set apart from anything else. Anyway, I would just like to say that Geologic was the best event I have ever attended! Seriously, I had a spiritual awakening that I could not have gotten anywhere else. THANKS SO MUCH for the amazing time that was had by all of us that attended. Everything from the phenomenal artists, to the venue, to the deco setup, and to the promoters that put up with anything that went down. This was a perfect weekend!

I hope beyond anything else that a Geologic II is in the planning stages. PLEASE have another one. I know not as many people showed to this one as everyone had hoped, however remember that a second annual party always is much more populated than the first. Also when it comes to the performers, DR SPOOK was most definitely the highlight of my weekend. He would be a prime candidate to bring back! also BSM, KRI, Neuromotor, Initializing String, and Bastard and Lost Baba completely ROCKED MY WORLD! wow! Those artists among the many other greats at this party left me speechless on sunday!

anway, Ill wrap this up now but I just want to say thanks again for the journey of a lifetime. I deeply thank all that made this wonderful event happen

Public Transportation

Amtrak goes to Carbondale, which is a 15 minute drive from Shawnee Cave Amphitheatre.
The nearest airport is in St. Louis. Flights to Chicago, a five-hour drive away, are often much cheaper.
TAXI service in Carbondale: Gold Ribbon (618) 457-5400; Yellow Cab (618) 457-8121; Southern Pride Cab Company (618) 529-5038; Crosstown Cab (618) 684-3506

General directions From Chicago

Take Interstate 57 South. You will be on Interstate 57 for about 300 miles before you exit.

Merge onto state highway IL-13 W via exit number 54B toward Carbondale. Stay on 13. Follow all signs for IL-13 until it turns to Highway 127. The most important thing is to stay on Highway 127.

After IL-13 you will need to take two lefts and one right to stay on Highway 127.

Following Highway 127 that final right occurs when 127 splits from Murphysboro Road (old Highway 13). DO NOT STAY ON MURPHYSBORO ROAD. STAY ON 127. Check your odometer at this turn. Shawnee Cave Amphitheatre is exactly 6.9 miles past that. The road goes straight, there are no more turns. You will stay on 127 during this final leg of the journey.

It may be difficult to see (being overgrown by trees), but on the right you will see a sign that reads "SALT PETRE CAVE, A BEAUTIFUL PARK. NEXT RIGHT".

Entrance to the Cave will be on the right. Pull around to the right to the shelter displaying the Chilluminati Logo. This is check-in and registration. After you have been checked in, parking is directly past registration.

If you get lost you can call the Shawnee Cave owner at 618-687-9663. Many local Murphysboro businesses can also help you with directions.

You cannot drive to your campsite when you arrive. You must take one of the shuttles, or walk, or bicycle in. You can drive to your campsite to leave on Sunday, but only by paying a $10 surcharge directly to the Shawnee Cave's owner (to compensate for damage to grounds by vehicles) and only if the ground is not muddy.

Ticket Prices

18+ (unless accompanied by parent)
Children under 12 (accompanied by parent) FREE
Camping, parking included in admission fee
@ Gate: $55

SORRY, PRE-REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. YOU CAN REGISTER AT THE GATE
If you have not received email confirmation of a previous registration, not to worry. We will have your name at the gate. Please just bring a photo ID with you. Please be patient, confirmations can take more than 12 hours to send out.

Camping, lodging

Shawnee Saltpetre Cave Amphitheatre is one of the United States' oldest natural amphitheatres for the performing arts. The Amphitheatre features 53 acres of large rocky bluffs, strange rock formations, a roaring waterfall and winding waterways, nature trails and wildlife. Saltpetre Cave Amphitheatre, which has operated since the 1970s, can accommodate more than five thousand attendees, and frequently hosts crowds of more than two thousand.

To reach the heart of the park, one must first descend a winding road to the foot of the large cliff where the cave is positioned. The Cave itself is a natural saltpetre cave formed in the side of a limestone bluff. The camping area is surrounded by woodland, and sits at the top of the bluff that forms the theatre. The open-mouth cave is 215 feet wide at the mouth and is Southern Illinois' largest bluff shelter. The cave, which took 1 million years of flowing water to create, is located at the base of one of Saltpetre Park's large rock bluffs. In the summer, the Cave is about fifteen degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature. The area has very few mosquitoes because of the hundreds of cliff swallows who live in the bluff and make mosquitoes their lunch.

The layout of the GeoLogic festival at Shawnee Cave is divided into an upper and a lower level, separated by a steep hill (those with physical impairments, take note). The lower level will feature the Psychedelic stage, the IDM stage, the main fire ring, dance and performance areas; and camping for organizers, artists, DJs and vendors. The lower level will also feature Burning Man's BOP Camp/MAPS Camp 30' geodesic dome and the Iowa 18' UberDome.

The upper level will feature the Chill Stage and camping for attendees. The venue owner also lives on the upper level.

Portapotties will be located on both levels.

The park is only yards off the highway and is a perfect stop for hikers and nature lovers on their way to Bald Knob Cross, Giant City State Park, Garden of the Gods, or other sections of the Shawnee National Forest. Shawnee Cave Amphitheatre, six miles south of Murphysboro on Highway 127, is less than two hours drive from St. Louis, and a five hour drive from Chicago, 15 minutes from Carbondale and less than half an hour from Giant City State Park.

  • NEAREST HOSPITAL: Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, 405 W Jackson Street near the intersection of state highway 13 and US Highway 51; (618) 549-0721
  • You don't have to camp to attend the event. Here is a list of motels in nearby Carbondale. We recommend the Apple Tree Inn (Murphysboro), 618-687-2345; Anna Plaza Motel (Anna, IL) 618-833-5215; Days Inn (Carbondale) 618-457-3347 and Super 8 (Carbondale) 618-457-8822.
  • Pre-registrations: please bring a photo ID.
  • Wristbands must be worn at all times. Broken wristbands must be returned to event organizers who will issue a replacement. People without wristbands must pay the $55 gate fee for a new wristband. People found on the property without a wristband, who are unwilling to pay the gate fee, will be escorted off the property through the main gate, no exceptions.
  • Campers, prepare for rugged camping. Tent camping is allowed for no extra charge. RVs, trailer and campers allowed for a $30 surcharge payable directly to the Shawnee Cave owner when you arrive.
  • LEAVE NO TRACE. All participants are required to clean their own campsite and place all trash and garbage in provided dumpster. Participants who do not keep their campsite clean or caught littering may be asked to leave. Also, WE SUPPORT RECYCLING. Please use aluminum can and plastic recycling bins provided. Help us keep our trash costs down by separating aluminum and plastic from your other trash.
  • Water, ice and food can be purchased from Shawnee Cave Amphitheatre.
  • Ground fires are permitted only at six designated fire circles within the campground. Firewood is available for purchase.
  • Glass bottles are completely forbidden within the park. Bringing glass bottles into the park can be grounds for removal of participants. We reserve the right to search the vehicles of attendees for the presence of glass containers.
  • Nothing illegal is allowed in the park.
  • Please, no ins and outs from the park between midnight and 6 a.m. We charge $5 re-entry fee for people returning to the event during these hours for safety reasons.
  • The organizers of this event, and the owner of Shawnee Cave, can remove attendees for any reason.
  • No independent sound stages allowed.
  • No pets allowed.
  • Portapotties are provided in several locations. Please place only body waste in porta potties.
  • Wander around the property, especially at night, at your own risk. There are many dangerous trails. Be careful.
  • Bring a bicycle if you want. Shawnee Cave Park is big enough that you will be glad you brought one (we reserve the right to temporarily confiscate bikes ridden unsafely). A shuttle will also be available during certain hours to drive people around the park. Please tip the shuttle driver. He receives no compensation outside of the small tips he asks for.
  • Plan for rugged conditions. Think Burning Man but with bugs. The difference is, you can drive into town to buy supplies. Good things to have: tent, shade shelter, sleeping bag, insect repellant (there are mosquitoes and other biting insects), flashlights, batteries, sunscreen. Good walking shoes. Nights might be colder than you expect. If you bring a sunshower (and enough water to prime it) you will be glad you did.
  • Your cellphone may or may not work on the Shawnee Cave property. If you come with buddies you may consider buying a set of two-way radios.
  • Buying supplies: your best bet nearby is a Kroger at Route 13 & Highway 127 in Murphysboro. That is only a 10 minute drive from the Cave. There are restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores within 15 minutes of the Cave. There are even more businesses in nearby college town Carbondale, only 25 minutes away, including a Home Depot.
  • CAUTION: several motor vehicles rove the camp constantly. Be on the lookout for trucks and cars, especially at night. DO NOT CAMP IN THE ROAD
  • STAFF We are able to compensate a limited number of volunteers. It is not guaranteed we can comp everyone who wishes to volunteer, this is a limited offer.

    The primary staff responsibilities will be parking, gate duty and security.

    Staff can work either one or two non-consecutive eight-hour shifts. You should be able to be at the venue by noon on Friday. You will still need to pre-register or pay at the gate, but when we confirm you have completed your staff volunteer work, we will compensate you.

    If you work only one 8 hour shift, you will get your admission fee refunded. If you work 2 eight hour shifts, we will refund your admission, and pay you $40 on top of that, and give you an event T-shirt (if we run out of T-shirts at the event, we will mail you one). Get on the Volunteer list to receive more details.
  • PARTICIPATE This event is wide open for all visual art, performance, acoustic unamplified, dance, fire, art installations, healing arts, yoga, meditation, and/or whatever other freaky idea you might have. Write us if you have a question.
